Webb, IowaMayda Mary Donaldson, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Brooks) Hoppe, was born on January 9, 1908, in Germantown, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Germantown, where she received her education.
On November 17, 1927, Mayda married Floyd Donaldson in Aberdeen, SD. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm east of Webb. During those years, she helped out on the farm with her husband. Following their retirement in 1984, they moved to a home in the community of Webb. They spent their winters for 25 years in McAllen, Texas.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Webb, where she was active with the United Methodist Women. Mayda enjoyed crocheting afghans and making hanging birdhouses for her family. She also enjoyed working in her yard raising flowers and playing cards.
Her last few years were spent in Riverview Terrace in Spencer.
Mayda passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the age of 99.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Donaldson on January 1, 1991; a son, Darrel Donaldson; her sisters: Clara, Rose, Esther, Louise, Lillian, Ella, Anna and Ida and two brothers, Ernest and Raymond.
She is survived by one son, Blaine Donaldson and his wife, Dorothea of Kingsley, IA; two daughters; Beverly Bovee and her husband, Rodney of Webb, IA and Rhonda Pape and her husband, Lee of West Union, IA; a sister-in-law, Edith Donaldson of Spencer; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Stewart at the Highlands in Spencer; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
