Betty Louise Schoning, the daughter of Roy Gloyd and Luella Abbie (Lanphear) Gillispie, was born January 10, 1928 in Lake Township, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School.

Betty married Virgil F. Schoning on June 14, 1947 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. After their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where Betty enjoyed being a loving wife, mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Schoning passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, February 26, 2007 at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil on October 13, 1997; four sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her three daughters: Cindy and her husband, Frank Krieger, Rita and her husband, Roger Strand and Dana and her husband, Wayne Clark all of Spencer, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Boers of California; other relatives and many friends.
