Marcus Zachary VanAmpting, the son of Robert and Valorie (Anderson) VanAmpting, was born July 20, 1983 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education at Spencer High School. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Marc's life was spent helping other people, especially his grandparents on their farm near Royal as well as his grandfathers sister, Darlene O'Sullivan. He was a very outgoing person who loved the outdoors, driving and maintaining his grandparents old Allis-Chalmers tractor, fishing, camping, canoeing and boating with his family nearly every Sunday. Marc also had a vast interest in music and played the bass guitar.

Marc passed away at his home in Spencer on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the age of 23. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert on August 9, 2000; his grandmother, Helen Marie Walstrom and his step-grandmother, Leona VanAmpting.

He is survived by his mother, Valorie VanAmpting of Spencer; one brother, Jason Robert VanAmpting of Spencer; one sister, Lisa Marie VanAmpting; his grandparents: Leonard and Elsie Anderson of Royal, IA and F. VanAmpting of Spencer; other relatives and many friends.
