Military services will be conducted by Glen Pedersen Post #1 - American Legion of Spencer.

Russell Wesley Rasmuson, the son of Reid and Corrine (Rausch) Jones, was born October 22, 1927, in Dickens, Iowa.

His childhood years were spent in Spencer where he received his education, graduating at the age of 16. On May 2, 1945, Russell entered in the Navy and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII from May 2, 1945, until his honorable discharge on July 19, 1946.

Russell married Esther Skinner on March 11, 1946 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, he returned to complete his service. After his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Spencer, where he was head bookkeeper at the Spencer Packing Plant. From 1961 to 1963, they ran Spencer Bowling Alley, until moving to San Jose, CA in 1963, where he worked as Payroll Master for United Technologies Corporation. In 1966, he moved to San Diego, where he worked for Topsys. In 1971, they moved to Lake Tapawingo, Missouri and purchased the A & W Restaurant in Atchinson, KS, which they continued to operate until selling A & W in 1980. Russell worked for the State of Missouri in the Employment Office until his retirement. He loved to watch golf as well as playing golf, being on the lake, fishing, couples dance and spending time with his grandchildren.

Russell passed away at his home in Lake Tapawingo, Missouri on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Richard Reeverts.

He is survived by his wife, Esther of Lake Tapawingo, MO; two daughters: Merry Jo Reeverts of Aurora, CO and Cheryl Johnstone-Warren and her husband, Jon Warren of San Mateo, CA; three grandchildren: Michael and Christopher Reeverts of Aurora, CO and Travis Warren of San Mateo, CA; other relatives and many friends.
