Nelson Funeral Services Held Here Wednesday
Ole Nelson, 62, pioneer resident of Clay county, died Monday morning, August 6, at 11 o'clock at his home, south of Greenville, following an illness of several weeks. Death was caused from cancer of the stomach.
For some time Mr. Nelson had been in poor health, but had continued his work as section foreman on the railroad. May 19 of this year he was taken to the university hospital at Iowa City where he underwent an operation.
Mr. Nelson was returned to his home three weeks later, where he had since been cared for by his wife and children.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 8, at 2 o'clock from the Cobb Funeral Home and were in charge of Rev. Benjamin J. Trickey, pastor of First Congregational church.
A quartet from the Friend's church at Greenville sang a group of selections. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Spencer.
Ole Nelson was born in Skone, Sweden, Sept. 30, 1871. When a young man he was. confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church. He came to America May 1890 and located at Everly, Ia., where he remained until 1902 when he moved to Rossie.
November 25, 1908, he was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Mae Suggitt of Rossie. The marriage took place at Kewanee, Ill. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Nelson had lived in the Rossie and Greenville communities.
Surviving are his wife and three children, Irven, Miss Lois and Miss Bernice at home, one sister, Mrs. John Johnson of Montevideo, Minn., other relatives and a host of friends.
A daughter, Leona, preceded her father in death, at the age of sixteen months.
