Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, IowaHazel Elizabeth Cleghorn, the daughter of Algie and Iva (Menefee) Odor, was born on January 12, 1912, in Rembrandt, IA. She graduated from Rembrandt High School and earned a teaching degree from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She taught all grades in one-room schools in Gaza and Lake Park, Iowa.
On July 18, 1939, Hazel married Lorol Cleghorn in Park Rapids, MN. The couple moved to Spencer in 1942, where Lorol was employed with Arnold Motor Supply as a salesman. In 1961, the couple relocated to West Okoboji. After Lorol retired they spent their winters in Englewood, FL. While living in Spencer, Hazel was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and T.T.T. womens organization.
Hazel passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at Bickford Cottage in Sioux City, IA, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2001; two brothers: Glen and Gordon Odor; two sisters: Vera Medsker and Marie Maddox.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Gary Cleghorn and Ann Smith of Okoboji, IA and Jon and Anne Cleghorn of Dakota Dunes, SD; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Tom Searcy of Fishers, IN, Christopher and Holly Cleghorn of Urbandale, IA and Grant Cleghorn ans his fiance, Sondra Simon of San Francisco, CA; four great-grandchildren: Zachary Searcy, Cathryn Searcy, Lydia Cleghorn and Alaina Cleghorn; one brother, Garlan Odor of Naples, FL; other relatives and friends.
