Chas. F. Marker of Gillett Grove Dies at Iowa City

GILLETT GROVE (Special): Charles F. Marker, 58, Gillett Grove farmer, was called in death early Monday morning, January 28, 1935, at the university hospital in Iowa City where he hadd been taken a week ago last Friday, suffering from an undetermined illness, the cause of which had not been diagnosed at the time of his death.

The body was returned to Spencer Tuesday and on Thursday afternoon at one o'clock, family rites were held at the late residence, followed by a service at the Gillett Grove church at two o'clock. Rev. Carl Hammer, pastor, officiated. The body was laid to rest in Riverside cemetery at Spencer.

Here 47 Years

Charles Frederick Marker, the son of Peter and Charlotte Marker, was born August 25, 1876 at Conrad in Grundy county, Iowa. He came with his parents to Clay county March 4, 1887, being 11 years of age at the time. The family located on a farm five miles northwest of Webb. He was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Gleason December 31, 1912.

The Charles Marker family, which includes two sons, Keith and Karl, resides on a farm north of Gillett Grove.

Also surviving besides Mrs. Marker and her sons are four brothers, Ed Marker of Spencer, Emory Marker of Tinino, Wash., Joe Marker of Marietta, Minn., and Dell Marker of Dawson, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Streeter of Gillett Grove and Mrs. Lily Ruby of Marietta, Minn.

Two brothers and a sister preceded Mr. Marker in death. One brother, Alving Marker, died December 27, 1934, just one month and a day prior to the latest death in the Marker family.
