Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Church of Christ in Spencer for Lawrence Wright, 37, well known Spencer World War veteran, who died Thursday at the Veterans' Hospital in Des Moines. Services were conducted by the Rev. Forrest L. Richeson, pastor of the church.

He had been in ill health since last June, and a post mortem showed that the cause of his death was gall bladder trouble.

Born at Sioux City

He was born at Sioux City, and when an infant was adopted by the Wright family of Spencer. Since the death of his father in 1935, Mr. Wright had assisted in the care of his mother, Mrs. Emma Wright, who resides on West Fourth street.

He was a member of the American Legion, having served in the United States army from April 1917 to the close of the World War. He experienced overseas service. Legion groups had a part in the funeral services.

Surviving besides his mother are two sisters, Mrs. E.E. Stauffer of Spencer and Mrs. H.L. Giep of New London, Conn.

Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
