Last week we mentioned that Henry Wade had arrived home from his claim in North Dakota, and was quite sick. For a few days he seemed to be getting better but he passed away last Friday afternoon.
Mr. Wade was born in Bowling Green, Ohio, April 5, 1851. His boyhood days were spent in Lockport, New York. At the age of twenty-three he arrived in Spencer and lived on a farm north of town. On March 2, 1876, he was married to Miss Lettice Lundy of Bowling Green, and to them four children were born, one boy dying quite young, the remaining children being Mrs. E. E. Ingold and Charles, both living in North Dakota, and Miss Frances who lives in Spencer.
Mr. Wade followed contracting for many years. He built the first court house in Spencer, and also many other buildings. He also was a railroad contractor for a number of years, and was a man of great force and energy.
About seven weeks ago Mr. Wade fell under a horse causing a clot of blood to form on his brain which caused his death. He leaves a wife three children, a sister in Bremerton, Washington, and two brothers, both ministers, one living in West New Field, Maine, and one in Rock Streams, New York. Mr. Wade's father was also a minister.
Henry Wade was a man who had many warm friends and was well liked and popular.
The funeral was held from the home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the sermon being preached by Rev. J. O. Thrush, pastor of the Congregational church. The service at the cemetery were in charge of the Masonic lodge of which Mr. Wade had been a member for a number of years.
