Alden Reed Wheeler was born at Poultney, Vermont, March 7, 1834, and died in Spencer, March 29, 1906.
Mr. Wheeler spent most of his life in Iowa, having lived in Quasqueton, Independence and Cherokee. For the last two and a half years Mr. Wheeler made his home with his niece Mrs. Henry Achenback, of Spencer.
At the time of his death he was a member of the Congregational church of Cherokee. Mr. Wheeler never married. In 1861 he enlisted in Co. E. Fifth Iowa infantry and served but a short time when he was mustered out on account of disability. The funeral services were held at the Achenback home last Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. Day of the Congregational church. The services at the grave were conducted by the Spencer G.A.R. post.
