Services for Shirley Ann Burnell were held Tuesday, November 24, 1992, at 2 p.m. at Warner Chapel, Spencer. Pastor Harlan Gillespie officiated.

Pallbearers; Brett Decker, Loren Anderson, Cleo Howard, Duane Whitney, Lance Selzer and Gene Kalvedt.

Honorary Pallbearers; Jack Burnell, Noel Burnell, Troy Campbell, Ron Burnell, Leanna Burnell and Ben Decker.

Shirley, the daughter of Harry and Hattie (Beamon) Marr, was born on September 13, 1935 in Des Moines. She received her education in the Spencer area and graduated from Spencer High School in 1952.

On November 22, 1953, Shirley married Roland (Bee) Burnell in Fort Dodge. Following their marriage, they moved to the Everly area, where she lived until the death of her husband on November 3, 1983.

While living in the Everly and Fostoria area, Shirley was co-owner of B&B Milford Locker and also was a nurses aid at the Spencer Hospital. She also enjoyed helping the Meals on Wheels and for the past few months, she had worked at Hardee's as a biscuit maker.

She was a member of the Excelsior United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Fostoria Women's Birthday Club. She enjoyed writing, painting, playing the clarinet and guitar and was an excellent singer. Most recently she resided with Chuck Whitney in Fostoria.

Mrs. Burnell passed away on Thursday, November 19 at her home in Fostoria at the age of 57. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Survivors include three daughters, Julie (Nick) Hass, Arnolds Park, Vandy Rae Denio, Milford and Melodie (Todd) Hamrick, Everly; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild due very soon; other relatives and friends.

Burial was in Summit Township Cemetery, Rural Spencer.

Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, was in charge of arrangements.
