More than one hundred relatives, friends and girlhood associates attended the funeral of the late Mrs. George Boyle from the residence of her brother, Fred Monk. The services were conducted by Rev. Fillebrown of the Methodist church in Ruthven, thence to Dickens, where burial was in the family lot beside 1882 [sic]. The pallbearers were friends and neighbors of her girlhood days. They were: Frank Bradley, Clint Burdict, Ernest Simington, Orin Simington, Ben Stephas and Harry Whitman. The floral offerings were beautiful, many of them matching the purple plush casket. Mrs. Boyle leaves here husband, George Boyle, who was in Montana and who was not located by telegram until too late for the funeral. A beautiful spray of roses were sent to him from his wife's grave. Mrs. Boyle is also survived by Mrs. John Monk, her mother; John Monk, her step-father; two brothers, Fred Monk and James W. Monk; also two half-brothers, Merle Monk and Jesse Monk.

Nellie May Monk was born January 7, 1880, on her father's homestead in Freeman township, Clay county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On June 1, 1908, she was married to George Boyle. They made their home at Glendive, Montana, until in March, 1921, on account of failing health she was brought to her old home, trusting that a change of climate might help her regain her health, but all that medical aid and love could do were of no avail. She passed away August 31, 1921. Not only in her home did Mrs. Boyle show her thoroughness and skill in doing any work she undertook, but during the war she was a member of the Red Cross and entered the hospital at Glendive as a nurse when the flu was at its worst and there was a scarcity of nurses. She continued this work until the war was over. She had a happy, cheerful disposition which made her a comfort to her relatives, friends and business associates. Among the relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were her aunt, Mrs. Sarah Patterson of Mitchell, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Markley and son of Newell, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Markley of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Drake of Dickens, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Wirtz of Gillett Grove, Mrs. Etta Clifford of Nora Springs, Mrs. F.J. Carpenter and son of Spencer, Frank McCoy of Ayrshire.
