DWIGHT GOFF DIES AT DICKENS FRIDAY

HAD LIVED IN THAT COMMUNITY FOR 21 YEARS; WAS 78 YEARS OLD

Dwight Algin Goff, a resident of Dickens for the past 21 years, died last Friday, December 20 at his home, at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 10 days. His death was caused from old age and complications.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church at Dickens. Rev. Standworth, a former pastor, had charge of the services. Interment was made in the Dickens cemetery.

Mr. Goff was the son of Orin and Nancy Goff and was born in Shirland, Ill., February 10, 1851. When a young boy, he moved with his parents to Howard county, Iowa, and in 1872 moved to Palo Alto county, where he took a homestead and thus became one of the pioneers of northwest Iowa. During his residence in Palo Alto county he was united in marriage to Mary Melissa Brayton at Clear Lake.

To this union four children were born. One son died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Ethel Gadsby of Dickens and Wilmer C. and LeGrand Goff of Ruthven, Iowa.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Goff continued to live on their homestead until 1908 and at that time moved to Dickens where they have since made their home.

Mr. Goff had been a faithful and devoted member of the Methodist church for 30 years.

Besides his wife and three children, he is survived by two brothers, Orville Goff of Ruthven, Walter Goff of Albany, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Needham of Spencer and numerous other relatives and friends.
