Thomas Williams was born in Cardiff, England, July 18, 1913, aged 83 years, 11 months and 7 days [sic]. He came from England while yet a young man and located near Kankakee, Ill., where he was united in marriage in 1866 to Helen Marie Quion. This young couple soon after moved to Clay county, Iowa, locating on the homestead where he spent his remaining years. To this union were born 13 children, ten of whom are living and were present at the funeral. His helpmate passed away April 29, 1896. He was converted and baptized into the Free Will Baptist church soon after coming to Iowa. For some years he had been in failing health and peacefully passed away last Friday morning. The funeral services were held from the Baptist church at Webb on Sunday last and the remains interred in Burr Oak cemetery, Rev. Bisbee officiating.
