Services for Roger Lynn Cooper,56, of Everly, will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Everly. The Rev. Gary Bird will officiate with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery.

Casket Bearers; Merlyn Fell, Don Nielsen, Cory Kunzmann, Richard Thiessen, Dean Annis and Don Baumeister.

Roger Cooper, the son of Leo Lynn and Loretta (Harris) Cooper, was born June 10, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska. He moved to Spencer at an early age, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in the Signal Corps during World War II.

He married Peggy Dean Moore on January 29, 1946 in Pittsburg, Kansas and they moved to Everly following their marriage, where he was a mechanic and was last employed by Topsoil Schoenewe.

Cooper was a member of the Masons of Everly and Spencer, the Scottish Rite, VFW of Spencer, American Legion of Everly and the First Christian Church. He had served on the Everly City Council.

He died Friday at the St. Luke Medical Center in Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Virginia, Betty June and Janice Rae; and three brothers, Jack Orin, Leo Dale and Gerald Lee.

Surviving him are his wife, Peggy of Everly; one son, Danny Lynn of Purcell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Nancy Boyles of Everly; five granddaughters; three sisters, Mrs. Shirley Lauck of Placentia, California; Mrs. Cynthia Baxter of Primghar; two brothers, Robert Cooper of Mankato, Minnesota and Frank Cooper of Belmond; and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Betty Cooper of Melrose Park, Illinois; Mrs. Bernnice Cooper of Everly and Mrs. Louise Cooper of Spencer.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of the service arrangements.
