Emily Alice (Johnson) Janssen

Funeral services for Emily Alice Janssen, 70, Hampton, a former Milford resident, were held Monday morning at 10:30 in the Warner Chapel. The Rev. Allen Wiese officiated and burial was in the First Reformed Cemetery, Everly.

Casket Bearers: Roger Heikens, Russell Roberts, Dennis Johnson, Norman Heikens, Elwood Johnson, Jr., and Charles Tielbur.

Janssen died Friday at the Hampton Nursing Home.

The daughter of Charles and Margaret (Wright) Johnson, she was born December 17, 1903 in Summit Township. She graduated from Spencer High School, and continued her education at Normal School. She then taught in Clay County rural schools.

She married Henry Samuel Janssen on August 22, 1930 in Fostoria. Following their marriage, they lived in Plover, DeSoto, Linn Grove, Westfield and Cornell. In 1968, they moved to Maywood, where they lived until her husband's death in 1972.

Janssen then moved to the Ackley Nursing Home, where she lived until moving to the Hampton Nursing Home in 1978. While living in Ackley, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Joyce Hunt, Hampton; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Bethel Watson, Fostoria; and one brother, Karl Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother Elwood Johnson.

The Warner Funeral Home was in charge of the service arrangements.
