H.J. Groenewold, a prominent Farmer in Summit Killed
Funeral Held Saturday
Large Attended; Burial was Made in the First Reform CemeteryA sad accident occurred Thursday morning at eleven o'clock at the George Heikens farm six miles west of Fostoria. Hilbert Jacob Groenewold was assisting Mr. Heikens in putting hay into the hay mow of the barn. Something caught on the pulley track and Mr. Groenewold took a ladder and went to hay mow to fix the pulley. While he was this engaged the hay mow door gave way and stopped at an angle of forty-five degrees. Mr. Groenewold was thrown to the ground with the ladder. Death was instantaneous. There was a pile of hay immediately under the foor and if the door had not been caught at the forty-five degree angle he would have fallen directly upon the pile of hay.

He was a loyal citizen, a good neighbor, a devoted husband, a kind father, a trustworthy brother and while the passing of such a citizen and neighbor and such a brother, brings its inexpressible burden of sorrow, yet with ir all there is deep consolation that he has but passed on to those remains where anxieties and sorrows are forever ended.

Groenewold of Waterford Township, and three sisters, Mrs. C.J. DeWall of Summit Township, Mrs. John Ringering of Waterford Township and Mrs. E. Jensen of Knoxville, Nebraska.
