Funeral services for Dr. David William Dykstra, 53, of Rockford, Illinois, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2007, at St. Paul's Lutheran of Hartley. Rev. Dave Ericksen will officiate the services.

Gravesite services will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Cemetery at Fostoria.

Casket Bearers: Kent Kimball, Randy Dykstra, Rodney Dykstra, Tim Galm, Dana Galm, Paul Galm, Roger Kimball, Todd Dykstra, Brian Dykstra and Brad Kimball.

David passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007, at his home in Rockford.

David, son of Lester and Barbara (Kimball) Dykstra of Everly was born March 30, 1953, in Spencer. He was baptized and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church in May City and attended grade school and high school of Everly Community Schools, graduating in 1971. As a youth he participated in high school football, band and chorus as well as 4-H and FFA, raising livestock projects. He was active in the church youth group at St John's and was a volunteer camp counselor at Camp Okoboji. He worked his way through college at Iowa State University by operating a roofing and painting business. The first of his family to attend college, he graduated with his doctorate from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, thereafter practicing veterinary medicine in Iowa and Illinois.

David was united in marriage to Amy Armburst of Omaha, Nebraska on August 31, 1980 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Davenport.

David is survived by his sons; Adrian of Chicago, Illinois and Jacob of Omaha, Nebraska; his parents; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lloyd (Frieda) Kimball of Spencer; three sisters;Vickie Dykstra of Denver, Colorado, Connie Swan and her husband Steve of Jackson, Wyoming and Dickens, and Kay Black and her husband, Mark of Cusick, Washington; and one brother, Mark Dykstra and his wife, Michelle, of Raymore, Missouri.

Warner Funeral Home of Hartley is in charge of arrangements
