George William Dirksen
May 16, 1916-December 1982

Funeral services for George William Dirksen, 66, will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. George Jacobson will officiate, and burial will be in the First Reformed Cemetery, Fostoria.

Casket Bearers: Ray Dirksen, Ruby Schoorman, Ellmer Sonius, Ben Dirksen, John Schoorman and Vernon Schoorman.

George Dirksen was born May 16, 1916 in Everly, the son of Reiner and Reka (Schoorman) Dirksen. He received his education in the Waterford and Summit Township schools, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Johanna Panclar on August 24, 1948 in Everly, and following their marriage, Dirksen farmed for a number of years. They later moved to Spencer, where he had worked at the North Y Truck Stop until his retirement last January. Dirksen was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church.

Dirksen died Saturday at the Spencer Municipal Hospital. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Johanna; two brothers, John Dirksen and Edward Dirksen; and one sister, Louise Hagemeyer, Clara City, Minnesota.

The Warner Funeral Home is in charge of the service arrangements.
