Services in memory of Orville Evert Bleeker were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer, Iowa. Rev. David Loveall officiated.

Casket Bearers; Jeremy TenKley, Shane TenKley, Heath TenKley, Daniel TenKley, Anthony Bleeker and Timothy Blok. Military services were conducted by the American Legion. Interment was in First Reformed Church Cemetery at Fostoria. Turner Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of the arrangements.

Orville Evert Bleeker, son of Ed and Sophia (Krominga) Bleeker was born December 4, 1918 on the family farm in Westport Township, Dickinson County. He grew up on the farm and atteded a country school through the eight grade. Being the oldest of four children he was then required to work on the farm.

Orville entered the Army in April of 1941, serving in the 194th Field Artillery during World War II until September of 1945, of which 2-1/2 years in Europe. He returned to Spencer as a trucker for Jack Johnson and Stolley Gravel, and later as a mechanic for Parks Motor.

On September 6, 1948, Orville was united in marriage to Ella Anna Schomburg at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Spencer until 1953, then moved to a farm west of Milford where they farmed side-by-side and raised four children. In 1986, Orville and Ella purchased a home in Hartley where they enjoyed their retirement. During those years Orville enjoyed woodworking, helping anyone needing an extra hand and his coffee hours at the local cafe.

Orville spent the past six years as a nursing home resident. He passed away July 19, 2003 in Hartley at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 15 days. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Fostoria where he served as a Elder and Deacon, a member of Men's Brotherhood and the church choir. He was a member of the American Legion of Milfold and Hartley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Sophia.

Left to cherish his memory are; his wife, Ella of Hartley; two sons; Paul and his wife, Marcia of San Ramon, California and Duane and his wife, Debra of Hartley; two daughters; Kay and her husband, Larry TenKley of Hartley, and Jean and her husband, Phil Blok of Spencer; one brother, Vern Bleeker and his wife, Marcia of Tempe, Arizona; two sisters; Frances and her husband, Donald Black of Spencer and Lucille Fear of Everly. 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
