Rudolph (Rudy) William Drath
January 30, 1908-June 1, 2003A funeral service for Rudolph (Rudy) Drath, 95, of Everly, will be held June 5, 2003, at 2 p.m., at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. The Rev. James Mueller will lead the service. Mr. Drath died at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on Sunday, June 1, 2003.
Casket Bearers; Michael (Mickey) Johnson, Steve Johnson, Larry Aakhus, Dennis Burns, Darwin Johnson and Randall Newgard.
Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
Rudolph (Rudy) William Drath, the son of Carl and Lydia (Walters)Drath, was born January 30, 1908, in Dallas, South Dakota. He was raised on a farm near Winner, South Dakota, where he received his early education in country schools.
He married Maxine Evelyn Johnson on December 16, 1937, in Winner. They continued to live in South Dakota until 1939, when they moved to Iowa and farmed in the Moneta and Everly areas until his retirement in 1973. They then moved to Everly where he continued to clean beans for area farmers. Mr. Drath was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son.
Survivors include one daughter, Loretta Jeane Adrian, of Everly; four grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Alvena Haley and her husband, Doyle of Winner; other relatives
