Louise Ruth (Wilken) Dougal
February 7, 1924-December 28, 2003

Funeral services were held January 2, 2003, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly for Louise Ruth Dougal, 79, who passed away at her home December 28, 2003 of leukemia.

Rev. James Mueller officiated. Interment was at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.

Pallbearers; Brian Dougal, McClain Robinson, Eric Dougal, Tom Goeken, Heath Biittner, Bob Goeken.

Louise Ruth Wilken was born February 7, 1924, on the family farm on the west side of Everly. She was the 11th child born to Herman and Anna (Bokker) Wilken. She received her education in Everly and graduated from Everly High School in 1941. She attended business school in Cedar Rapids. After graduating from business school, Louise moved to California for one year and then returned to Everly.

She married Maurice Dougal on April 6, 1947, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. They farmed all their married life in Clay and Dickinson County, and resided on their present farm north of Everly since 1972.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition, she was active in her local community and served as past president of the Okoboji and Westport Women's Clubs and was past chairman of the Dickinson County Farn Bureau Women. She enjoyed helping with the farming, gardening and her many flowers. Louise was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Anna Wilken; five brothers; Eibe, George, Fred, John and Henry and two sisters, Lena Schmidt and Martha Ramsey.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Maurice Dougal; a son, Bruce Dougal and his wife, Barb of Janesville, Wisconsin; a daughter; Kathleen Biittner of Dallas; grandsons Brian Dougal of Chicago; Eric Dougal of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and Heath Biittner and his wife, Micaela, of Dallas; a granddaughter Kristina Robinson and her husband, McClain, of Carrollton, Texas, and two great-granddaughters, Kiley Biitner and Destine Robinson. Louise is also survived by sisters; Gretrude Bender and Helen Wilken, a brother, Herman and wife, Phyllis; a sister-in-law, Hope Wilken; a niece Clara Goeken who was raised with Louise as a sister; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Turner Funeral Home-Milford was in charge of arrangements.
