Carrie Rehn Peterson Wettergren, 1846-1925

Mrs. Carrie Wettergren, formerly of Spencer, now of Royal, passed away Sunday morning, March 1, 1925, at ten o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Frank, one mile west of Royal.

Carrie Rehn was born November 18, 1846, in Farila, Sweden. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church to which she adhered for life. In 1876 she was united in marriage to Peter Peterson. In 1881 Mrs. [sic] Peterson died leaving his wife, son and a daughter. The following year Mrs. Peterson emigrated to America and located at Alto, Iowa, and in 1884 she was married to Theodore Wettergren. The this union a daughter was born. Shortly after their marriage they moved to this vicinity, settling on a farm a mile west of Royal. After Mr. Wettergren's death she moved to Spencer in 1910 and remained here until 1916, when she again moved to Royal to live with her daughter, Mrs. John Frank, with whom she remained until her departure from life.

She has been in poor health during the last several years and for ten years she was blind. At the time of her death she was 78 years, 8 months, and 11 days old.

Mrs. Wettergren leaves to mourn their loss one son, Perry Peterson of Comfrey, Minnesota, and two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Tjarks of Webb and Mrs. John Frank of Royal. She is also survived by ten grandchildren.

A mother has passed away whose lot in life was not the easiest, but who was held in high esteem by those who knew her.
