Death of Mrs. Arthaud
Mrs. Benjamin Arthaud died at her home about three miles Northwest of Moneta last Saturday, April 5, 1930. Her death was caused from heart trouble. She had been in failing health for several years.
Estella Berryman was born in Henry county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and where she married to Mr. Arthaud.
Mrs. and Mrs. Arthaud came to O'Brien coounty about thirty-five years ago and brought the farm where Mrs. Arthaud died. They came to Spencer about ten or twelve years ago and purchased a nice residence on East Seventh Street, where they lived for several years and still owned the property. They went back to the farm about five years ago.
There are six children in the Arthaud family, three girls and three boys. The boys are Sam of Manly, Iowa, Odie of Sioux City and LeRoy of Sac City. The girls are Mrs. Kamp of Hartley, Mrs. Dunlap of Hawarden and Mrs. Viola Morgan of Whittier, California. Odie and LeRoy both graduated from the Spencer High School in the class of 1922. The children were all home for the funeral except Mrs. Morgan.
Mrs. Arthaud was a wonderful mother, a good woman whose interests centered in her home and her children, a good Christian woman.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Welch, pastor of the Methodist church of Hartley. Burial was made in the Everly Cemetery at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.
This brief mention of the passing of a good, friend, is written from the memory of an acquaintance that began years ago. We were unable to get definite information on some points in time for publication.
