Last Rites for Kenneth Burger

Funeral services for Kenneth Burger were held at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, Monday morning, July 29. Pastor Roger Hanson officiated. Burial was at the Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly. Military service was conducted by the American Legion Everett Boyles, Jr. Post #414, Everly.

Casket Bearers; Willie Hartman, Curt Runkle, Bill Gibbs, Ervin Ott, Jim Milles and Fred Adrian. Honorary Bearer was Willard Spangler.

Kenneth Henry Burger, the son of Jacob and Ann (Thortson) Burger, was born November 18, 1910 in Everly. His childhood years were spent in that community, and it was there he received his early education.

Kenneth married Charlotte Seitzinger on November 15, 1930 in Everly. Throughut their marriage they made their home in that community, where for 30 years Kenneth served as a rural mail carrier, retiring in July of 1975. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly and American Legion Post #414 of Everly.

Kenneth entered the military in 1944 and served with the Army during WWII. While stationed in Europe with Infantry, he was the recipient of three Bronze Stars, a Silver Star and the Purple Heart.

Mr. Burger passed away at the Spencer Hopital on July 26, 1985 at the age of 74 years, eight months, and eight days. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Charlotte; four daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jack Harms of Spirit Lake, Virginia and John Norman of Spencer, Margaret and Jerry Cromer of Garden City, Kansas and Mrs. Marlene Wilharm of Ankeny. He was preceded in death nu his parents and one brother, Lloyd.

Kenneth, a loyal and loving, father and grandfather, was suddenly called by his Heavenly Father due to heart failure. He will be missed by all of his family and many friends, and now is at peace with his Father in Heaven
