Carl Brugman
January 24, 1846-February 9, 1920Carl Brugman, aged a little more than 84 years, died at his home in Everly Friday, February 9. Mr. Brugman had been in failing health for sometime due to his advanced years and death was not unexpected. He had been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. I.R. Baker and family since the death of his wife a few years ago and it was here that his death took place.
Carl Brugman was born in Germany on January 24, 1846. At the age of thirty he came to the United States. He and his family lived on a farm for a number of years. For many years he was on of the influential and highly successful farmers of Lone Tree Township and it was here that he and his wife reared their family of boys and girls. Eighteen years ago he and his wife retired from active farm life and came to Everly, where they occupied a cozy cottage and enjoyed many comforts. When their daughter Bertha became the wife of I.R. Baker a few years ago, the Bakers built a home near Mr. and Mrs. Brugman, but after the death of Mr. Brugman, the Baker home was sold and Mr. and Mrs. Baker moved to the Brugman cottage to administer the care and comfort which gave pleasure to the last years of his long and useful life.
The funeral services are being conducted at Everly this afternoon and interment will be made in the Lone Tree Cemetery.
Mr. Brugman is survived by several sons and daughters, all of whom are living useful and splendid lives.
