October 25, 1898-March 1986Vera Cherry, 87, of Everly, died Wednesday at the Longhouse Residence of Spencer.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday at the Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly. The Rev. Jerry Brown will officiate. The Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of Herb and Cora Cummings, Mrs. Cherry was born October 25, 1898, in Oklahoma. Her family later moved to the Marathon area, where she received her education.
She married Roscoe Olas Cherry on October 25, 1916, in Marathon. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Marathon area until 1950, when they moved to Estherville. They moved to Everly following Mr. Cherry's retirement.
Mrs. Cherry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 18, 1986; and one son, Vernon.
Survivors include three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
