Jesse Lorraine (Ramsey) Birdsall
October 28, 1920-July 23, 2005

Services in memory of Jesse Lorraine Birdsall were conducted at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at the Everly United Methodist Church in Everly, Iowa. Pastor Karen Larson officiated.

Casket Bearers were Tracy Birdsall, Ty Birdsall, Gregory Birdsall, Justin Laub, Jason Watt, Brad Bateman, Ryan Burns, Jonathan Burns, Adam Burns, Andrew Birdsall and Barrett Dodd.

Interment was in Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly, Iowa. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of the arrangements.

Jesse Lorraine Birdsall, the daughter of Jesse A. and Marie (Christiansen) Ramsey, was born October 28, 1920 in Moneta, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Moneta area where she received her education graduating from Moneta High School.

Jessie married Gale R. Birdsall on February 25, 1940 in Moneta. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Moneta until 1952, when they moved to Everly. Throughout her married life, she worked as a bookkeeper and salesperson for Birdsall's Locker Plant in Everly. She was also and active member of the Everly United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, MYF leader, Chairperson of the Administrative Board, and held offices in the United Methodist Women, Jessie was Past Matron of the Eastern Star, Past President of the Federated Women's Club, a member of the Kitchen Band, and the Red Hat Society. She was presented a volunteer award from Governor Terry Branstad for her participation in the BABES Program at the Everly Community School.

In her early years she, with her sister, sang for many community events, and in later years loved to listen to music. Jessie was so proud of her children and grandchildren and looked forward to every minute she spent with them. She also enjoyed golfing with her family.

Jesse passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Saturday, July 23, 2005, at the age of 84. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gale on March 4, 2003; her brother, Alvin Ramsey; her sister, Betty Ihry; sister-in-law; Dorothy (Birdsall) Ramsey and Elma Birdsall; brothers-in-law; Bob Birdsall, Bill Birdsall, Rodney Lorenzen, Ray Ihry and Carl (Bud) Kirlin; daughter-in-law, Judy (Birdsall) Wischusen; and son-in-law, Tom Watt.

She is survived by her children; Jerry and his wife Bonnie Birdsall of Apache Junction, Arizona, Jacqueline Watt of Waterloo, Iowa, Julee and her husband, Dennis Burnss of Hartley, Iowa and Jay and his wife, Shelly Birdsall of Harris, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Kirlin of Mesa, Arizona; and one sister-in-law, Shirley (Birdsall) Lorenzen of San Antonio, Texas; other relatives and many many friends.
