February 6, 1952-January 24, 2002

A funeral service for Paul Asmussen, 49, of Royal, will be held today, January 29, 2002, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. The Rev. Tim Fitzgerald will lead the 10:30 am service.

Mr. Asmussen died at Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Thursday, January 24, 2002.

Casket Bearers: Rick Hickey, Lance Kruse, Bob Ekberg, Tracy Nielsen, Brad Haburn and Kevan Kaiser.

Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Paul Dale Asmussen, the son of Dale and Florence (Walsh) Asmussen, was born February 6, 1952, in Spencer. He received his early education in Everly and graduated Everly Community High School in 1970. He graduated in March 1972 from the Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Following his schooling, he moved back to rural Royal where he helped his father on the family farm. In 1995, he moved to Royal and began working at Roytel, where was employed until his death. Mr. Asmussen a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Florence, of Royal; two sisters; Bernardene Lindquist and her husband, Leonard, of Brooklyn Center, Minesota, and Pamela Asmussen of Battle Creek; one brother, Peter Asmussen, of Royal; other relatives and friends.
