Donald Dean (Butch) Berenger
February 14, 1934-August, 1978Funeral for Donald Dean (Butch) Berenger, 44, of Spencer was held Thursday afternoon from Warner Chapel in Spencer.
The Rev. C. Earl Page officiated. Burial was at Lone Tree Cemetery at Everly.
Bearers were Ervin Nissen, Ronnie Fitzloff, Eugene Pooler, George Koenig, Tyke Gustoff and Pat Gibson.
Honorary Bearers; Cliff Nissen, Larry Kiley, Bernie Niemeyer, Glenn Hott, Bill Koenig and Lyle Grover.
Mr. Berenger died Monday at Sioux Valley hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He was born February 14, 1934, to Arthur and Martha (Scheerhorn) Berenger.
He received his education in Dickens. He served in Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was an honored member of the American Legion and a past commander of Dickens Post No. 194.
He was and auto mechanic for Gustoff's for 20 years and recently had been disabled and unable to work.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Dean of Central Valley, California; two daughters, Michele DeAnn and Julie Jean, both of Spencer; a grandson, Shawn Michael of Central Valley, California; his mother, Martha (Berenger) Voss of Spirit Lake; three brothers, Wayne and Robert, both of Spencer and Lowell of Mediapolis; and six sisters, Lola of Spencer; Helen of Royal; Mrs. Hans (Carol) Stoltenberg of Spencer; Mrs. Vincent (Gloria) Roelofsen of Belmond; Mrs. Verlyn (Phyllis) Weiskircher of Milford and Mrs. Kurt (Janice) Hansmann of Algona.
He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.
Warner Funeral Home of Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
