Anna (Weber) Zahren
March 12,1862 - May 7, 1923

Anna Zahren nee Weber was born March 12, 1862, at Main, Schleswig, Germany and departed this life near Hartley, May 7, 1923 at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 25 days. She was baptized in her childhood and later was confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

March 7, 1883, she was married to Peter Zahren, They emigrated to America in 1884 and settled in New Jersey where they lived three years. Then they moved to Lost Nation, Iowa, where they made their home ten years, then ten years in Linn County. The balance of earthly pilgrimage was spent in the neighborhood of Hartley.

She leaves to mourn her departure her deeply sorrowing husband, six sons, William and Emil of Everly, Julius of Manchester, Iowa, Edward at home and Gilbert and Harry of Lake Park, Two daughters; Mrs. Clifford Garlick of Manchester, Iowa and Mrs. Floyd Hakeman of White, South Dakota, eight grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.

The decreased was noble wife, a true and sacrificing mother and because of her devotion to home and bible her place cannot be filled.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 9, at the home at one o'clock and at the Lutheran Church at two o'clock and were conducted by the Rev. J.J. Braun of the Evangelical Church of Hartley.

Interment was made at Lone Tree Cemetery.
