Chris Jensen Shoots Self

Attempts Suicide Last Evening. Two Serious Wounds.

Chris Jensen, who lives on the extreme east end of 4th street, drove his family out of the house last evening, forcing them to go to their neighbors, and then going out in some timber at the rear of the lots and shooting himself twice.

Mr. Jensen has been acting queer for some time, and had been having some home troubles that had worried him considerable, and last evening he procured a 22-calibre revolver, and with this did the shooting.

Marshall Lester Baldwin by the aid of a couple of autos turning their lights in the trees, found Mr. Jensen on the ground with two bullet holes in him. He had shot himself in the forehead, and also in the stomach. Medical aid was promptly procured, and Mr. Jensen taken to the hospital and this morning is resting quite comfortable with an even chance for living.

Mr. Jensen is a man near seventy years of age, and has always been a highly respected citizen. From remarks he made last evening, he said that he did not intend to harm a soul, but simply wanted to get away from his troubles.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
Chris Jensen Shoots Himself After Terrorizing Family

Chris Jensen an old man 71 years old after holding his wire and other members of the family prisoners for half an hour at their home on East Fourth street, attempted to take his own life by shooting himself with a 22 caliber revolver.

It seems that Mr. Jensen and his wife whom he married about two years ago, have been having trouble and had made arrangements to separate. They made a financial settlement September llth after which Mr. Jensen had gone to Albert City. He returned yesterday and going to the house had asked to stay for supper. During supper something was said that started the old quarrel and flourishing his revolver he drove Mrs. Jeusen and her granddaughter into a bed room where he kept them imprisoned for over a half hour. They finally persuaded him to go after a pail of water for them. While he was gone they ran away to one of the neighbors and telephoned the marshal.

Marshal Baldwin went down and with the assistance of J. H. McCord aud M. K. DeWoll found Mr. Jensen under a tree with two bullet wounds, one in his head and one in his abdomen. He had fired three shots in all, but only two had taken effect.

Mr. Jensen was removed to the City hospital and medical assistance summoned. The bullet in the head was removed, having lodged against the skull. The bullet in the abdomen was not found but passed through the liver. His wounds are not considered fataland it is thought be will recover.
