Carleton Woodard, a resident of Clay county since 1888, died at his home near Webb on Monday, February 21, 1921. The Webb Record in speaking of his death says:
"Carleton Woodard was born in the province of Quebec, Canada, in 1839.
"He grew to manhood in Canada, and at the outbreak of the Civil war enlisted in a Massachusetts regiment, serving three years.
"He was married to Miss S.A. Hulburt in 1864, and seven children were born to the union, all of howm survive him, together with twenty-eight grandchildren. The family moved to Iowa soon after the war, and to Clay county in 1888, living on the old home farm since that time.
Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, Rev. L.W. Ross conducting the services. Interment was made in the Garfield cemetery by the side of his wife who preceded him in death only a few years."
