Roger Birchard, 62, of Paullina passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina. Rev. Andrew Hilla will officiate the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Greenville at a later date.

Roger Dean Birchard, the son of Benton and Alice (Backstrom) Birchard, was born July 2, 1945, in Gillett Grove. He attended school at South Clay, graduating from South Clay High School in 1964.

On December 5, 1964, he was united in marriage to Karen Moffitt in Greenville. He began his employment with Spencer Foods. The couple co owned Orchid Cleaners in Storm Lake with his son and daughter-in-law, Benton and Brenda Birchard. The couple later lived in Ida Grove before moving to Paullina in 2000.

Roger Birchard is survived by his wife, Karen, of Paullina; two sons; Benton and his wife Brenda Birchard, of Manson and Jeffery and his wife Michelle Birchard of Rochester, Minn; two sisters: Blanche Foxhoven of Estherville, and Shirley and her husband, Bob Stone, of Richmond, Texas; one brother, Earl and his wife Wanda Birchard, of Spencer; four grandchildren, one great grandson, other family members and friends
