Louis Otto passed away at his home, six miles northwest of Spencer, last Wednesday evening, May 12, 1926, at 4:30 o'clock. Mr. Otto was taken suddenly ill with influenza and pneumonia, and despite medical and all that the members of the family could do to restore his health, all proved in vain. He was 31 years, 3 months and 1 day old at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, May 15, at 2 o'clock from the home, with Rev. Gelaler of the English Lutheran church officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery in Summit township.

Ludwig William Otto was born near Varna, Illinois, February 11, 1895. In the same year he was baptized in the Lutheran faith. On May 12, 1918, he made public confession of his faith in the triune God through the rite of confirmation. He remained a faithful member of the Lutheran church throughout his life, being a member of the English Lutheran church of Spencer at the time of his death. His creator and redeemer had set his hour and desired to deliver him from all evil and take him home. For this journey he was ready and well prepared. He leaves to mourn his early departure the sorrowing parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Otto, one brother, Emil, and one sister, Lena, besides other relatives and many friends.
