Mose Brace Dead
Mose Brace, one of the best known residents of Spencer died at his home on west 4th street last Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock after a short illness.
Mr. Brace was born in New York state March 12, 1837, and was 74 years, six months and sixteen days old.
Mr. Brace was a pioneer settler of Clay county, settling first in Lake township, but a number of years ago he moved to Spencer and this has been his home since. In early life he worked at the carpenter trade, but on coming to this county he followed farming for a number of years, and later moved to Spencer and led a retired life.
Mr. Brace was an upright man in his business dealings. He was a well read man of excellent habits. His wife died about a year ago. He leaves two daughters, we believe.
Mr. Brace will be missed by a large circle of friends in this county.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the home, the services being conducted by Rev. J.O. Thrush, and the interment was in Dickens cemetery, beside the body of his wife.
