Celestia Arnold Brace, 1840-1910

Died--At her home in Spencer, Ia., September 11, 1910, Mrs. Moses Brace, aged 70 years, 5 months and 20 days.

Celestia Arnold was born at Malone, New York, and where the earlier years of her life were spent.

She came with her parents to Howard county, Iowa, in 1852, where she lived at the time of her marriage to Moses Brace, November 9, 1860.

Mr. and Mrs. Brace came to Clay county in 1871 and he took a homestead in Lake township which he still owns and where they lived until 1890 when they came to Spencer to make their home.

There were nine children born to Mr. and Mrs. Brace, one of whom died in Howard county, and five are buried in the cemetery at Dickens.

Three daughters are living, Mrs. A. B. Vandee of Schooltan, Oklahoma, Mrs. Myra Williams of Watertown, South Dakota, and Miss Dot Brace who is at home.

Mrs. Brace had been in poor health for some time but death came with out a moments warning as she was in fine spirits only a few moments before she was stricken with heart failure. Mrs. Brace was a good woman, a kind neighbor and a true friend. The funeral services take place at the home this afternoon. The body will be taken to Dickens for interment.
