Richard Schoorman, Former Resident, Dies

Richard Schoorman, 59, former resident of Clay county in the vicinity northwest of Spencer, died early Tuesday morning in a hospital at Caspar, Wyo., the cause of his death being cancer. He had been ill for a long period of time.

The body will be brought to Spencer, where funeral services will be held Sunday at Cobb's Funeral Home. The time of the funeral has not been determined.

Born in Germany, Jan. 13, 1877, Mr. Schoorman came to the United States when a small boy. At first the family lived in Hardin county, Iowa, later coming to Clay county.

Fifteen years ago Mr. Schoorman went to Wyoming to work in the oil fields. Before he went he west he made his home with his brother, Otto, near Fostoria.

He was never married.

Surviving are five brothers, John, Will, Otto and Henry Schoorman all of the Spencer vicinity, and George Schoorman of Ackley, Iowa.
