Hannah Hemka Roskens, 1850-1926

Mrs. Eite Roskens passed away at the home of her son, Dick Roskens, north of Everly at eight o'clock this morning, December 22, 1926, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 21 days. She had been ill for the past four months with dropsy.

Hannah Giersema was born January 1, 1850 in Germany, where she grew to young womanhood. She was married there to Eite Roskens and the family came to this country about forty-five years ago, settling in Grundy county, Iowa. They came to Clay county thirty five years ago and lived on a farm near Everly. Mr. Roskens died sixteen years ago.

Mrs. Roskens is survived by five sons, John of Maynard, Minnesota; George, Martin, Thomas and Dick of near Everly; one daughter, Mrs. Siebe Myers, of near Everly; and several grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of the Reform church north of Everly for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held at the Dick Roskens home Friday afternoon, in charge of Rev. John DeVries of Sibley. Interment will be made at the Reform cemetery.
