Ashley Smith died at his home in Sioux township on Saturday, September 6, at the age of 78. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in this city Monday, September 8, and interment had in Riverside cemetery. Mr. Smith was one of the early settlers in Clay county and during his long life has made for himself a large circle of friends who learn of his death with sorrow and hasten to extend their sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
