W. R. Tubbs, an old soldier who's home is just north of the city, was taken to the hospital for the insane at Independence yesterday. Mr. Tubbs has been in poor health and his mind has been weak for some time. Of late his mental condition has been worse and he has talked of self-destruction and of killing his family, saying he thought it would be best for them all to die at once. Until recently he was considered quite harmless, but his change for the worse made it imperative that he be put where he could harm no one.
