William Ott of Everly, Iowa, 66 years of age, died last Friday evening, May 1, 1931, at six o'clock at the Spencer hospital where he had been taken the preceding Monday morning for treatment. Death, which was caused from intestinal obstruction, followed an illness of but a week. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at his home in Everly with Rev. B.J. Trickey of the First Congregational church of Spencer in charge. Interment was made in the Lone Tree cemetery at Everly.

William Ott was born in Davenport, Scott county, Iowa, November 27, 1864. He spent the early days of his life on a farm near Davenport with his parents, and was united in marriage to Lena Bandholz of Scott county in 1882. They made their home near Davenport until in 1900 when they came to Clay county and made their home for five years on the John Stuhr farm. Later they purchased a farm northeast of Everly, known as the John Goldsworthy farm, where they resided until 1929 when they bought a home in Everly and where they have since lived. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Everly.

He leaves to mourn his death, his wife and nine children, a daughter, Mrs. Frank Scharnberg having preceded him in death in the year of 1911. His five sons, Herman, Harry, Walter, Clarence and Alvin live in the vicinity of Everly. A daughter, Mrs. H.H. Moeller lives in Boulder, Colorado, two daughters, Mrs. Emiel Scharnberg and Mrs. Rudolph Peters live near Everly and a daughter, Mrs. Robert Wright resides at Spencer. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, a sister who makes her home in Denver, Colorado, and a brother who lives in Davenport. His death is also mourned by other relatives and a host of friends. He was a man of upright character, honest and industrious and in every way a most worthy citizen. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will long be remembered by all who knew him.
