Funeral Services Last Thursday for Kirk Irland
Kirk Irland, 65, of Sacred Heart, Minn., was laid to rest last Thursday in Riverside cemetery following services held at Grace M. E. church with Rev. K. O. Brudevold of Renville officiating. Dr. H. E. Hutchinson offered prayer. Mr. Irland passed away Saturday, March 3, at Sacred Heart following a many months' illness of cancer.Funeral rites at the home in Sacred Heart were held last Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and at three o'clock at the Renville M. E. church with Rev. Brudevold in charge.
The deceased was the son-in-law of R. Olson and brother-in-law of Mrs. N. Fred Nelson of this city.
Pall bearers at the Spencer service were Fred Wellmerling, J. O. Legere, and Tom McBrlde, Wallace Knutson, Dick Selfkin. and George Voss, all of near Sioux Rapids.
Lived at Rembrandt
Mr. Irland was born in Delaware county, Iowa, December 15, 1868. He had been a resident of the Sacred Heart community since 1914. When he was four years old, he moved with his mother to Storm Lake. In the year 1898 he was united in marriage to Olive Olson, daughter of Rasmus Olson at Spencer. The Irlands made their home until 1914 at Rembrandt.
Three children were born to this couple, Lydia Clindia and Glenn W. Irland, both of Sacred Heart, and Francis M. Irland of Winona, Minn. Besides these children and Mrs. Irland, there are four grandchildren; a brother, William Irland of Red Top, Minn., and two half-brothers, Frank Colburn of Sioux Rapids and Charles Colburn of Pocahontas.
