Young Mother Is "Flu" Victim
Mrs. Fred Erickson Died Monday From Pneumonia Following Influenza—Leaves Small Baby
An extremely sad death is that of Mrs. Fred Erickson, who died at her home on East Second street at three-thirty, o'clock, Monday afternoon, from pneumonia following an attack of influenza. She was ill only two weeks but seemed to be seriously ill from the start. She was only twenty-one years old, and had been married but a little over a year and was the mother of a nine months old baby.
Christene Hansena Nelson was born Nov. 20, 1897 at Wauponsee, Illinois, and when four years of age came to Clay county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Nelson.
They resided here for several years and then moved to Minnesota, where they lived until Christene was sixteen years old and then returned to Spencer where on July 12, 1917, she was united in marriage with Fred Erickson, of this city. To this union was born one son, Robert Frederick, who with the husband and father is left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and loving mother.
Deceased was of a bright and cheerful disposition and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a faithful attendant of Grace M. E. church and was a member of the Cradle Roll class.
Besides her husband and son she leaves her parents and four sisters. Burial will be made in Riverside cemetery.
