John H. Snyder, aged seventy-three years and a resident of Clay county for many years died Wednesday, September 20, 1922, at the state hospital in Cherokee following a long mental illness.
Mr. Snyder was born September 16, 1849, in Pennsylvania and came to Iowa with his parents at the age of six years. The family first made their home at Ottumwa. in the year of 1874 he was married to Miss Almyra Darden in Keokuk county and in the year of 1885 they came to Clay county to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Snyder have been residents of the county for over thirty-seven years.
Besides his wife, Mr. Snyder is survived by one son, Omar S. Snyder of Aurelia and by a sister, Mrs. R.W. Boyd of Sutherland.
The funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Sutherland Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. George Henry and burial was made in the Sutherland cemetery.
