Mrs. Adlai E. Anderson Dies
Succumbs to injuries Received in Accident in Which Her Husband and Baby Were KilledMrs. Adlai E. Anderson of Storm Lake, formerly of Spencer, died last Wednesday evening in the Swallum hospital at Storm Lake from injuries received the previous Friday night when a train and an automobile in which she was riding with her husband and their baby daughter, killing Mr. Anderson and the baby instantly.
Mrs. Anderson rallied to semi-consciousness at the hospital following the accident Friday night. Friday forenoon she regained consciouness entirely and was told of the death of her husband and baby. in spite of that sorrowful knowledge she seemed to continue to hold her own and three physicians who were familiar with her condition had hoped that she could survive the injuries and shock.
Though gravely injured in her chest and one lung Mrs. Anderson seemed to withstand her sufferings satisfactorily through Saturday night, Sunday and Monday. She was not so well Monday night, but rallied again and held her ground until Wednesday afternoon about three o'clock when she became critically worse. Artificial respiration was resorted to, but in vain, and she died at 9:40 that night.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson were held last Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church at Storm Lake where the funeral of her husband and baby had been held three days previously. The three bodies were taken to Peterson, Iowa, Friday afternoon to be buried near the parents of Mrs. Anderson these who attended the funeral services included Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Summerbell from near Dickens, Clinton P. Anderson of Alberquerque, New Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. C. White, Mrs. Hannah Neill, Mr. and Mrs. A. Jay Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and their daughter Gertrude, Arnold Lee, Miss Ellen Krause, Miss Mabel Claypool, Miss Marie Hubbard and Mr. and Mrs. John Sleh all of Spencer.

Gladys Craddock Summerbell third child and second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Summerbell was born at Peterson, Iowa, February 1, 1889, and died in Storm Lake Wednesday evening, March 4, 1925, at the age of 36 years, 1 month and 4 days.She attended the public schools at Peterson and graduated from the high school at that place with the class of 1907. She was active in all school activities and was popular among all.
After completing her high school course she held a position as bookkeeper at Plager's general store at Sutherland for six years. On account of her health she then went to Angleton, Texas, where she spent a year with her sister, Mrs. P. C. Pierce.
She then returned to Peterson, where for a time she was employed at the A. E. Stolting general store, after which in 1918 she went to Spencer to accept a position as bookkeeper in the Farmers Trust & Savings Bank, which position she held until her marriage to A. E. Anderson, June 23, 1921, at Sioux City, Iowa.
She was a member of the Congregational church at Peterson from early girlhood and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Storm Lake and of the local Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sisters and one brother, Mrs. P. C. Pierce, of Conroe, Texas, Mrs. Irwin Dipple of Belmond, Iowa, and Mrs. C. C. Fritcher of Storm Lake, and D.V. Summerbell of Spencer, besides other relatives and hosts of friends.
