THE DEATH OF ALEX M'ALLISTER
DIED IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA

Word Was Received in Spencer Last Tuesday of the Death of Alex M'Allister

Tuesday morning, May 14th, word was received in Spencer that Alex McAllister had passed away the previous day at Phoenix, Arizona, where, attended by his father, Dr. McAllister, he had gone for the benefit of his health. The remains, accompanied by his father, were taken to his home at Minneapolis, where on Saturday the funeral was held, the services being conducted by Dr. V. L. Tenney and Dr. Newhall White of that city. Burial was beside his infant daughter in Lakewood cemetery.

Alexander Winchell McAllister was born May 3rd, 1883, in this city, where the greater part of his life was spent. In boyhood, owing to delicate health, he spent two winters at Thomasville, Georgia, and three years at San Jose, California. Returning here from San Jose he entered the Spencer high school, from which, after two year's work he graduated with the class of 1902.

After completing his high school course he entered Williams College, Mass., his father's alma mater, from which he graduated with the class of 1906. Returning to Spencer, after graduating from college he entered the First National bank, retiring from the same on account of failing health, after a service of one year.
Dec. 12, 1908, he was married to Miss Susie A. Goble, of this city, going soon thereafter to California for the benefit afforded by a milder climate. After a year spent on the western coast with his wife, he returned and located in Minneapolis, where he engaged in Life Insurance, in which he built up an extensive and profitable business. During the past winter tuberculosis of the lungs, which had been feared from boyhood, developed and a change climate was deemed necessary, accordingly, about the middle of March, accompanied by his father, he went to Phoenix, Arizona, a popular resort for tuberculosis patients, but favorable climate, tender care and highest medical skill were of no avail, the dread disease had marked him for its victim and he passed away as above noted.

Deceased was a member of Lowney Hill Congregational church of Minneapolis, also Minnesota Commercial Club and the University Club, of the same city, also a member of the Masonic and K. P. orders.

Alex McAllister was a young man of splendid qualities, which won friends in all relations of life, possessed an active, vigorous mind, which unfortunately tenanted a frail body. He had a laudable ambition to progress and to occupy an advanced position among men, an ambition which transcended the ability of a weak body to attain. His aims were high, but his purposes always commendable. No mean motive ever found lodgement in his mind. Harshness had no place in his nature. Always affable, genial, everyone recognized in him a friend. He leaves a father, wife, an infant son, and a legion of friends.
