Samuel D. Faulkender died at his home on North Grove street, Spencer, Monday, June 21, 1920, at six forty-five in the evening, at the age of seventy-eight years, five months and thirteen days. Mr. Faulkender had been up and around during the day but late in in afternoon was taken with a hemorrhage which resulted in his death.
Samuel Faulkender was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. John Faulkender and was born January 8, 1842, near Martinburg, Pennsylvania. On February 21, 1867, he was united in marriage to Serent C. Yates at Dixon, Illinois. To this union were born five children, Ira M. of this city; George, residing northeast of Spencer; Charles of Omaha, Nebraska, and two dying in infancy.
On April 20, 1887, he was united in marriage to Anna Garling at Palatka, Florida. To this union were born four children, one daughter, Mrs. Edith P. Bales of Bonilla, South Dakota, and three sons, Ray of Kingsley, Bruce of Omaha, Nebraska, and Loren of this city.
In 1883 the family moved from Dixon, Illinois, to Kingsley, Iowa, and on January 30, 1911, came to Spencer, Iowa, where they have since resided.
The deceased leaves to mourn their loss his wife and seven children and a host of friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a faithful and consistent member of the United Brethren church.
The funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at two thirty, from the Baptist church in this city, Rev. J.E. Ralston, pastor of the United Brethrn of Dunkard church in Sheldon will have charge of the services. Interment will be in Riverside. The six sons are to act as pallbearers.
