After suffering for months, Mrs. Andrew Johnson died Sunday morning at her home on West Second street. She had been a patient sufferer during her long sickness, being always cheerful and hopeful even to the last. She was a good woman, her first thoughts being for the members of her family to whom she was deeply devoted. She was a
true Christian and had been a devout member of the Baptist church since 1888.Funeral services will be held this Wednesday, afternoon at the residence at 1:30 and at the Baptist church at 2 o'clock conducted by the pastor, Rev. Carroll and the remains interred in Riverside cemetery.
Clara Peterson was born in Guttenberg, Sweden, May 10, 1846. She came to America June 10, 1873, locating at DeKalb, Illinois, where on December 6, of the same year she was united in marriage to Andrew Johnson. They remained in DeKalb county until 1880, when they moved to Ogle county, Illinois, where they lived for three years when
they became residents of Clay county, locating on a farm about seven miles southwest of this city. Several years ago they moved to Spencer which has since been their home. The remaining members of the family are the husband and three daughters, Mrs. Chris Johnson, of Meadow township; Mrs. E. Magnusen, of Lincoln township, and Mrs.
