Mrs. Charlotte Green Passes Away

Mrs. Charlotte Green, widow of the late Christopher Green, died Friday, March 31, 1916, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Scharf, in this city. She had been ill for one week, her death being due to heart complications.

Funeral services were held from the Scharf home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. O. M. Bond, pastor of Grace M. E. church and the remains were laid to rest in Riverside cemetery by the side of her husband.

Charlotte Winkloff was born in England August 25, 1841. In the spring of 1849 she came with her parents to America locating at St. Louis and later moving to California. In 1858 she was united in marriage to Christopher Green. To this union two daughters were born, one of these having proceeded the mother to the better land, the other being Mrs. J.J. Scharf, who survives her. Mr. and Mrs. Green came to Clay county in 1895 and in 1905 Mr. Green died. Since his death Mrs. Green has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Scharf. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Albert Phipps, and grandchildren Genevieve and Alberta Phipps, of Mason City, and Wesley Scharf of this city.

Mrs. Green was a quiet, home loving body and was one of nature's noble women. She was a faithful Christian a good friend and neighbor and a devoted mother and to the sorrowing daughter is extended the deep sympathy of this community.
